About Córdoba

Cordoba lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, on the foothills of the Sierra Morena, and is a city whose history stretches back thousands of years. The Romans first settled here and founded the city. Later, in the early Middle Ages, it became the capital of the Moslem (Umayyad) Caliphate, bequeathing such architectural marvels as the Mosque or the ruins of the city-palace of Medina Azahara.

Today it is one of the cities in Europe with the best preserved historical remains, and its historic centre has been declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.

The local culture, the wide variety of leisure activities on offer such as equestrian shows, flamenco, sports activities or museums, as well as the delicious local cuisine, make Cordoba a great place to visit and a pure delight for the senses.
