During the month of July, Academia Hispanica runs our annual Summer Immersion course designed for teenagers from 14 – 17 who have a pre-intermediate to an upper-intermediate level of Spanish. Staying with a Spanish homestay family, students will attend classes as well as have the chance to get to know young Spanish people their own age (from our sister school) and other Spanish students from around the world. Activities will be located throughout the city, at our campus, as well as at a local leisure center. All excursions and activities are led and supervised by Academia Hispanica monitors. Travel and Medical Insurance is included in the fees.

Classes

20 x 45 minute lessons. Students complete a level test in order to place them in the right groups (maximum 12). Our teachers use a communicative method in the classroom in order to develop the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. During our program there is a special focus on communication (speaking and understanding). In order to accomplish this we often take classes outside the school! Class activities might include a trip to the market to hunt for information, street surveys, or a practical lesson on following street directions.

As a member of International House we adhere to strict quality standards. All of our teachers have completed a specialized course, in addition to previous language teacher training.

Accommodation

At Academia Hispanica we believe the best way for students to get the most out of their stay in Cordoba and to get to know Spanish culture is for them to stay with carefully selected host families.

Accommodation is arranged in host families with full board and double rooms. All the bedrooms are clean and tidy and have a desk where the student can study.

Sundays are also reserved to spend the day with the host family however they wish. Maybe you’ll end up going for a hike in ‘La Sierra de Córdoba’ or perhaps having a few tapas in ‘La Judería.’ Whatever you end up doing, it’ll be fun.
